The topics suggested for proposals for participating in this Conference are generically the following, although others may be considered if they are deemed pertinent and relevant:
- Contemplating the ornament our days: meaning, tendencies and paths.
- Ornament and Portuguese decorative arts;
- Revivalism, exoticism and ornament
- Ornamentalists and engravers: creation, reception and dissemination;
- Ornament and architecture: historiography, theory and present times;
- Mobility and transcontinentality: the migration of forms;
- Between the sacred and the profane: appropriations, reinventions and coexistence;
- Intersection, union and dissonance: literature, music and visual arts.
Abstracts (of no more than 500 words), accompanied by a short bio (250 words), in English or Portuguese, should be sent to the members of the organizing committee, at [email protected] by April 30, 2016. Participants will be notified by the end of May, and the conference program will be published in June. The languages of the conference are English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
A selection of papers from the conference will be published in Revista de História da Arte - Série W, an annual peer-reviewed digital journal.

Os temas sugeridos para envio de propostas de comunicação a este Congresso são genericamente os seguintes, embora seja possível aceitar outros, que se revelem pertinentes e relacionados:
- Pensar o ornamento hoje: sentido, tendências e caminhos;
- Ornamento e artes decorativas de expressão portuguesa;
- Revivalismo, exotismo e ornamento;
- Ornamentistas e gravadores: criação, recepção e difusão;
- Ornamento e arquitectura: historiografia, teoria e actualidade;
- Mobilidade e transcontinentalidade: a migração das formas;
- Entre o sagrado e o profano. Apropriações, reinvenções e convivências;
- Intersecção, união e dissonância: literatura, música e artes visuais.
Os interessados em participar no Congresso poderão enviar um resumo (máx. 500 palavras), em português ou inglês e uma nota biográfica (máx. 250 palavras), até ao dia 30 de Abril de 2017, para o endereço [email protected]
Os participantes serão notificados no final de Maio de 2017 e o programa será apresentado em Junho de 2017. As línguas da conferência são o inglês, o português, o espanhol e o francês.
Uma selecção de comunicações será publicada na revista digital do Instituto de História da Arte da FCSH/NOVA "Revista de História da Arte, Série W", uma publicação com peer-review.
